Reno Tahoe Bike Summit Wrap-up
The Reno/Tahoe Region Bike Summit took place tonight at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the UNR campus and featured 36 presenters with well over 100 attendees. The goal of the summit was to bring the various bike-related groups and key players together in one room to get an opportunity to see who was doing what and how we can all work together on common goals. There was a huge variety in the content of the presentations; everything from simple, sustainable bike-powered living to cutting edge race training, interspersed with a variety of Lance Armstrong jokes. The event was hosted by the University of Nevada Reno Cycling Team, UNR Bicycle Coalition and the Tour de Nez Outreach.
Tim Healion indicated that the attendees of the summit were going to (optionally) be put onto a contact list so that members could communicate with each other. I’m interested to see how this part works out. I think we could use a community-wide forum to discuss cycling issues, volunteer opportunities, and whatever else we might want to chat about.

I am looking forward to viewing the video taken for the presenters I missed, as well as to spread the information from the event to those who didn’t or couldn’t attend.
